GENERALITIES OF THE COUNTRY


  • It´s capital is Berlin. 
  • Has more than 80 million inhabitants.
  • The principal demonyms are the german and the germanic. 
  • The currency is the euro.


THEIR SLOGAN IS: UNITY, JUSTICE AND FREEDOM.

TYPICAL DANCES

There are different types of dances that are largely influenced by European classical music.

The most prominent are:


  • THE GERMAN POLKA: Is a type of music that has a very strong tone and is played with tuba, double bass, clarinet, accordion and sometimes drums. People dance with side steps and fast evolutions.
  •  THE LÄNDLERDance of Bavaria area that is characterized by setting the pace when stepping. This dance became popular in the eighteenth century and evolved considering it an ancestor of the waltz.
  • THE SCHWERTERTANZ: This dance also known as the sword dance, is one of the oldest which originated in the German lands.

GASTRONOMY

German cuisine varies greatly from region to region of the country and is highly influenced by the cultural and social environment.

The most famous dishes are:


  • WURST: they are the most famous in the country. Basically, they are sausages with different kinds of meat: pork, chicken, goose, turkey, boar and rabbit.

  • BREZEL: Is a tipe of baked bread that have interlaced form.
  • SAUERKRAUT: It is a type of cabbage finely chopped and fermented in salt water.


  • KNÖDEL OR KLÖßE: They are pellets made ​​from different ingredients, cooked in salted water, some are made from potatoes, meat, fruit or other types of food.
  • SAUERBRATEN: A typical roast beef that has been marinated in red wine, vinegar, vegetable broth and mix of spices like juniper, pepper, mustard seeds, etc.
  • SÜLZE: Is a type of gelatin sausage that contain pieces of meat or chicken, cooked vegetables and seasonings.
       
  • FRIKADELLEN: They are fried of minced meat (pork, beef or veal), onions or chopped scallions, eggs, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. Has a round shape and slightly flattened.
